My '99 ZRX 1100

There's a song by Ministry called "Jesus Built My Hot Rod", and at the very end, in spoken word, are the lyrics "Jesus built my car, Its a love affair, Mainly jesus and my hot rod." Well, I can't say that Jesus built my ZRX because I have never heard of a Japanese factory worker named Jesus. However, I am fully prepared to state publicly that it is a love affair between me and my ZRX.

Like all good love affairs, it was lust at first sight. I walked into my local dealership, saw it, sat on it, and dug into my pockets to see how much cash I had. I put $100 on it, arranged financing and picked up my first-ever new motorcycle a few days later.

I loved -- and still do -- most things about the ZRX, such as the seating position and the styling. I love the big torque-y power, and how it pulls like a freight train all the way to redline in a steady rush, not peaky like a 2-stroke or a modern 4-cylinder 600cc sport bike that you have to rev to 14k RPM. My previous bike was an FZR 1000, which makes much more power, but is more peaky, and feels quite hectic compared to the ZRX. I particularly like how the ZRX will loft the front wheel with a hefty application of throttle at 3k RPM.

These pages chronicle my projects on the ZRX. Like many things I do, updates will be irregular, and impulsive.
